2026 Dialogue on Disability
Tune in to WXXI January 12-18 for Dialogue on Disability: The Herman & Margaret Schwartz Community Series on WXXI TV, radio, and at the Little Theatre.
This week-long series, made possible with generous support from the Fred L. Emerson Foundation, serves as the cornerstone of our ongoing Move To Include partnership with WXXI and the Golisano Foundation.
Kicking off this year’s programming was a free screening of “The Ride Ahead” and Panel Discussion followed moderated by Noelle E. C. Evans, WXXI News education reporter, at the Little Theatre on Tuesday, January 6th. The film follows Samuel Habib, a typical 21-year-old, itching to move out, start a career, and find love.
New this year is the launch of the Move to Include podcast, a six-episode audio and video podcast that puts the voices of people with disabilities at the center of the conversation about inclusion. Each episode delves into a core aspect of everyday life for people with disabilities — education, employment, housing, relationships, healthcare, and transportation — told through the lens of the self-advocacy movement. Episode one drops Monday, January 12 with new episodes releasing on the second Monday of the month. The podcast is available on Apple, Spotify, Amazon Alexa or wherever you get your podcasts.
‘Don’t Look Away’
On, Thursday, January 22 from 6pm to 8 pm, join us for a virtual screening of the documentary short ‘Don’t Look Away’ with filmmaker Joseph Lingad and the film’s main subject Corey R. Taylor. This screening will be followed by a workshop facilitated by Lingad and Taylor. Click here to register.
WXXI will also present kids programming and primetime specials on WXXI-TV and WXXI-WORLD (and streaming live on the WXXI and PBS apps), special reports from WXXI’s news team and the Inclusion Desk, and community conversations on Connections with Evan Dawson.
