B. Thomas Golisano Foundation presents Move to Include Awards
As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, the Foundation continues to serve as a catalyst for changing perceptions and creating inclusive communities.
On October 15th at the George Eastman Museum, the B. Thomas Golisano Foundation presented the first Move to Include Awards, recognizing six individuals in our community who promote inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are honored that Dan Meyers, President of Al Sigl Communities, was selected as an award recipient for his lifelong commitment and work on behalf of people of all abilities. Also receiving awards were Julie Christensen, director of employment programs for the University of Rochester Medical Center, Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities; Rick Guidotti, founder and director of Positive Exposure; Martha Mock, associate professor and director, Institute for Innovative Transition at the UR’s Warner School of Education; Joseph Ruffolo, president and CEO of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center; and Shirley Szekeres, director of the York Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute at Nazareth College, professor of speech-language pathology and former dean of the School of Health and Human Services.
The award reception included a presentation by renowned photographer Rick Guidotti, creator of the Positive Exposure Photographic Exhibition at the George Eastman Museum. The 20 models featured in the Positive Exposure Exhibition were also in attendance. Congratulations to the Foundation and to each of the award recipients for helping to create opportunities for everyone to be fully included in community life. Learn More
